Happy Holidays to our End of the Leash community!

As we are approaching our Midnight Magic event this weekend, I wanted to take the time to thank all of you for your patronage and give you an update on the store since I took ownership in March.

One of my first goals was to grow our cat offerings. As a crazy cat household, I felt our selection was too small considering that over 25% of households have multiple cats. And as all cat owners or admirers know, cats are amazing ninjas that bring a different vibe to our lives, a perfect complement to the dog spirit, so I always recommend having a nice mix if you can!

The vision of our Kitty City has been realized. You will now find an entire section of the store dedicated to our feline friends. Kitty City is at the front of the store and has all cat toys, fountains, accessories, and its own dedicated Feline Freezer for those who are enjoying the benefits of raw food for their obligate carnivores. Litter, kibble, and canned food are still located towards the rear of the store.

As all cat owners understand, feeding your cat the diet you want them to eat is not always easy, so we have been adding different brands of food to our line-up. Dashi, Inaba, My Perfect Pet, Catit, Carnipet are some of the new lines we have picked up since March. We have brought in new flavors of Wellness, Dave’s, Fussy Cat, Tiki Cat and are always looking for other options that are affordable and palatable. We test all new products on the staff Cat Product Testing Committee and if most of our cats say NO, then we look for tastier options. We realize that some of our cats are kibble junkies, so we have the best kibbles. We know some of our cats love Fancy Feast, so we have options that are similar in texture and cost, but with a better ingredient panel. We won’t sacrifice quality but we understand that the more premium options we can offer, the better for our customers.

The next area of cat innovation is litter. After a recent cat focused conference we attended, I learned a lot about the importance of the new litter varieties that are being created. Light and non-clay-based litters are being made that can offer significant improvements to your cats household environment, and as many of you know, when your cat doesn’t like something in it’s universe, it often lets you know in unpleasant ways. After adding Ms. Tallulah Sassafras to our home during a Texas Rescue Riders adoption event, my other cats decided that they were going to let me know their opinions outside of the litter box. Adding litterboxes and changing litter went a long way in solving our litterbox issues. As new technologies come out, we will be testing them to see if they do what they claim before offering them to you at the store.

This weekend will be the Grand Opening of Kitty City. With any kitty-related purchase of $50, you will receive a Kitty Holiday Bag with goodies valued over $50. We also are running a special on cat fountains, which are an incredible way to encourage higher moisture intake, which is critical for our felines with their genetic low thirst drive. Many issues are solved or avoided if you increase their moisture intake to 70-80% of their diet. Kibble has approximately 12% moisture, canned food is better at around 70%+ and raw food has 70%+ moisture with the rest being muscle meat, organs, and bone, a recipe for a long and healthy life. Whatever diet you choose, moisture needs to be considered.

And the last fun thing we have is fresh quail eggs. We will have a blow-out sale on quail eggs sourced from a local Wisconsin farm. Quail eggs are perfect for cats because of their smaller size yet increased nutritional value.

Please join us for Midnight Magic and the Grand Opening of Kitty City! We look forward to seeing you this weekend and beyond!

Happy Holidays!
